Winegrowers & distillers

Moselle - a land of winegrowers

In Moselle, almost 270 winegrowers continue to work the vines and perfect their art of winemaking. These include independent wine growers, cooperative wine cellars, and wine merchants. From crémant, whose fine bubbles will tickle your tastebuds as an aperitif, to straw and ice wines that will go marvellously with dessert, not forgetting our large range of still wines (reds and whites): the Luxembourg Moselle has a huge variety to offer wine lovers, despite the region’s small surface area, while always focussing on quality.

You will find an equally wide variety in the grapes harvested there. While Riesling, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Noir, Gewürztraminer and Rivaner are all very famous in Moselle, the region is also known for its more unusual varieties, such as Elbling and Auxerrois.

Moselle distillers

Brenner am Miselerland

These distilleries are just as much an integral part of Moselle’s history as the region’s vineyards and wines. With all its abundance of nature, numerous fruit trees and plant varieties, Moselle offers artisanal distillers a wealth of possibilities to produce exceptional spirits.

In the Moselle valley, this true art has been passed down from generation to generation, and is still practised in the five distilleries still operating here: Distillery André Weber, artisanal distillery Zenner, Distillerie Diedenacker, Distillery Streng and Distillerie Max-Lahr et fils. With their unique expertise, these artisans turn fruit into fine spirits using traditional stills.

Each year, during the Distillery Days (Journées de l'Alambic), you will have opportunity to find out the trade secrets behind these traditional Moselle products. Feel free to pop into our distilleries during this time… or at any other time in the year!
