A 'Bokenmask' for Carnival!
In Luxembourg, the 'Fuesent' (Carnival) begins on Candlemas Day. It reaches its peak on Fat Thursday, Carnival Sunday, and the following two days, namely Fat Monday and Fat Tuesday. Strictly speaking, the 'Fuesent' lasts until Ash Wednesday, but it is often celebrated until the Sunday of Mid-Lent. What is one of the key elements of the 'Fuesent'? Dressing up! That’s why children aged 6 to 12 can, on Saturday, February 15th, create their own 'Bokenmask' in the shape of an animal with the help of our mediator. For this, templates will first be transferred onto felt, then cut out and either sewn or glued together. Each child can take home their personalized mask, ready for the next carnival ball!
